Hawaii hotels see occupancy, rate gains in December

Hospitality Advisors . Hotels statewide averaged occupancy rates of 69.7 percent in December, which is up 6.8 percentage points from December 2009. The statewide average room rate for December was $203.56, up 3.8 percent from the same month a year ago. For December, Oahu?s occupancy rate was 79.8 percent, up 8.2 percentage points from the same month a year ago, while its average room rate of $167.81 was 6.7 percent higher than a year ago. Maui?s occupancy rate for December was 64.7 percent, up 7.1 percentage points from December 2009, and its average room rate of $283.67 was 2.2 percent higher than last year?s rate. The Big Island?s occupancy rate was 55.3 percent, up 4.9 percentage points from the same month last year, while its room rate of $221.69 was 2.4 percent lower than the same...
